Digital Immersive Carpets

Emily Carr University of Art & Design

Materials: Projector + Digital Scanners

The carpets displayed in the gallery were an extraordinary combination of art and technology. They showcased digital scans of Vancouver's local flora, capturing the intricate details of the different elements to create a sense of the natural world growing beneath our feet. As visitors moved through the gallery space, the projected carpets on the floor created a surreal impression of the living ecosystem around us, bringing nature indoors in a new and innovative way, demonstrating how the beauty and complexity of the natural world can be transformed into digital art, providing an immersive experience for the viewers. It continues to reflect the traditional designs of the Islamic garden typically found in a Persian rug.
