Hidden In Plain Site
Emily Carr University of Art & Design
Materials: String
The site-specific installations were made from cotton string and featured geophonic and anthrophonic soundscapes. The installations were dependent on the physical placement in relation to the building's architecture, inspired by the patterned habitats of weaver birds, spiders, and silkworms. My curiosity to learn how other species use webbed patterns as components to the structural integrity of their habitats led to the embodiment of their behavior as a creator of similar webbed archetypes. The installations served as a metaphor for adaptive and temporary homes.
